Eidelon (film 2028)
Movie Summary
Eidelon is a 2028 science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott. Set in the far future on the planet Eidelon, it follows a nonhuman civilization that is able to utilize the power of a newly discovered to pursue deep space exploration. The story centers on Aleigha, a high ranking scientist and survivalist, who progresses from discovering and researching new materials, from a fallen metorite, to applying her research to advance and expand her society. Aleigha is faced with the challenges of mining this new material underwater, researching it carefully, and implementing it all while keeping it under the control of trustworthy people.
Eidelon's society lacks a formal government instead organizing via guilds and reputation. Authority for decision making comes from skill, access to resources, and relationships. The film examines both how to govern use of a material such as this without any form of real governing body and takes into account the ethics of keeping it away from certain groups to advance their society as a whole.

World Building
The film falls hundreds of years into the futre from present day and follows a race that developed in a strikingly similar way to humans on earth did, although they are generally faster learners than humans are. They don't have formal system of government to rule over their people and instead they rely on small orgnaized groups and larger, unoffical, factions in order to make decisions about their world. Most decisions are made by people that have a reputation of logical thought or by people that have specific skill sets. Their encomy relys on trading valueable resources and technology.
Eidelon, is positioned inside a triple star system meaning no side of the planet is ever colder than the other, seasons don't apply as they do on Earth. The planet's surface is completely covered in water with the only exception being three islands, one where most live, covered in city districts and where the majority spend their time. The second island is only used for farm land every scrap of food produced on the planet at some point came from the second island. The third island is covered entirely in mountains and is extremely harsh to survive in, the higher elevation makes it colder than anywhere else and generally doesn't support life other than a few exceptions. The meteorite containing space age materials landed just off the coast of the third island mostly underwater.

Production
This film requred a lot of special effects to make it look right, major parts of the film are over water which is notoriously difficult to get right so a large portion of both the budget and produciton time went into getting the SFX correct. The parts of the film that wern't over water were fillmed on realistic indoor sets with green screens being used for backgrounds like cityscapes.
